Biography

Mark Robinson is the firm’s managing partner and a specialist in employment law and commercial & private litigation.

 

Mark graduated from the University of Liverpool and has been with the firm since qualifying as a solicitor in 1980.  In addition to his law degree he also has a Masters degree in Law & Employment Relations.

 

In employment work Mark has acted for both employers and employees in a wide range of areas including-:

  • employment tribunals
  • disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • unfair dismissal
  • redundancy and compromise agreements
  • bullying
  • discrimination
  • pay issues
  • non contentious work for example the drafting of employment contracts, terms and conditions of employment and staff handbooks.

 

Mark has also provided employment services to a large Merseyside based NGO covering all aspects of employment law.

 

Mark has over 30 years litigation experience acting for both businesses and private individuals. His areas of work are wide-ranging and include-:

  • commercial contract disputes
  • property litigation
  • professional negligence claims
  • regulatory litigation
  • debt recovery
  • estate and probate disputes

 

Mark is a keen runner and has competed in numerous races, including marathons, in the UK and abroad.

Biography

Gordon Hatton trained as a solicitor in Manchester, qualifying in 1971 and subsequently moving to Southport. He has been with Hodge Halsall for over 40 years.

 

Gordon has significant experience in all aspects of private client work, including-:

  • probate and estate administration
  • wills
  • lasting powers of attorney – property & affairs and welfare
  • receiverships and other public guardianship matters
  • managing financial affairs
  • trust creation and management
  • inheritance tax issues, including deeds of variation
  • residential conveyancing

 

Gordon will meet with clients at either of the firm’s two offices, in their own homes, in hospital or in residential homes.

 

Gordon plays the euphonium for the Skelmersdale Prize Band. His concert highlights include performing at the Military Tattoo at Earls Court and playing at the Royal Albert Hall.

 

Gordon also enjoys cycling and has even been known to run the occasional 10K race.

Biography

Judith Bond joined Hodge Halsall in 1998 and completed her law degree in 2000. She undertook her training contract with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2002. Judith became a Higher Court Advocate in 2004.

 

Judith specialises in litigation work for both commercial and private clients providing assistance in the following areas-:

  • breach of contract
  • commercial disputes
  • employment law
  • landlord & tenant – where she acts for both landlord or tenant
  • property litigation
  • debt & insolvency
  • family work

 

Judith undertakes the majority of the advocacy work for Hodge Halsall in the County and High Courts and also Employment Tribunals.

 

Judith is a previous amateur jockey and has featured in races on TV. She still keeps horses at her home in Wigan.

Biography

Paul joined Hodge Halsall in 2003 following completion of his degree in Business in Europe & Spanish at Manchester Metropolitan University. This was completed contemporaneously with a degree in Spanish from the University of Murcia.

 

Paul undertook his training contract at Hodge Halsall and qualified as a solicitor in 2008.

 

Paul specialises in property and commercial work, including-:

  • property developments/new builds
  • commercial leases where he has acted for landlord or tenant
  • buying and selling businesses
  • partnership agreements
  • licensing
  • residential property – buying, selling & remortgage
  • equity release

 

Paul’s site development work comprises-:

  • site acquisition
  • structuring the development
  • sale by way of plot sales of the entire site

 

Paul’s work in this area has involved a site of 30 mixed flats and houses in Cheshire, a new build site in Banks of 32 houses and a new build block of 12 luxury apartments in Ainsdale.

 

Paul is an avid watcher of most sports, particularly football and tennis; and a part-time golfer.

Anne joined Hodge Halsall in 2011 and has specialised in family law for over 20 years. She has been a member of The Law Society Family Law panel since 1997 and a Resolution Accredited Specialist since 2002.

 

Anne has wide-ranging experience in family law acting in both private and legally aided matters, covering-:

  • divorce
  • separation
  • children cases
  • financial matters
  • injunctions
  • pre-marital agreements

 

Anne is a graduate of Durham University and completed her articles (training contract) at Weightmans in Liverpool.

Biography

Geoff qualified as a solicitor in 1990 following completion of his law degree in 1987 at the University of Central Lancashire. Geoff has been a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 1996 and is also a member of The Law Society Private Client section. Geoff joined Hodge Halsall in 2008.

 

Geoff’s work includes-:

  • drafting of Wills – ensuring the most appropriate and tax efficient provision for family and dependants
  • administration of estates – applying for grants of probate and ensuring that the instructions in the Will are carried out in a prompt and sensitive manner
  • preparation of lasting powers of attorney and dealing with all matters involving the Court of Protection
  • preparing Trusts and advising on their operation and tax implications

 

Geoff is pleased to meet with clients at either of Hodge Halsall’s offices, in their own homes, in hospital or in residential homes.

 

Outside the office Geoff is a keen tennis player and plays for his local club in the Southport Tennis League.

Derek was originally both a Business and Branch Manager with HSBC plc, working wholly in the Merseyside area. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

 

Derek’s responsibilities within the firm include-:

  • Quality standards
  • Client complaints
  • Information technology
  • Premises

 

Derek is a keen follower of most sports and has even been known to take part in one or two. He also acts as an easy target for his son’s fast bowling.
